Benefits of performing arts training

Performing Arts is an invaluable way of engaging students and allowing them to explore many aspects of life in a fun way. Each of the disciplines encourages a range of skills including:

  • Confidence – sharing thoughts and ideas, speaking in public, performing, taking exams, being able to articulate oneself
  • Imagination – being creative, taking ideas and building upon it
  • Trust – building friendships and allowing a freedom to express thoughts and ideas
  • Dedication – being committed to a group and learning together
  • Social skills including empathy and understanding others viewpoints
  • Team Work – discussing, negotiating, ownership of work

DBS: All our permanent teachers and guest teachers hold up to date DBS checks

Child Protection: Irene holds Level 2 child protection and Level 2 Prevent Duty and is the designated person responsible for safeguarding.

Safeguarding Policy: This is updated yearly in line with requirements and a copy of the policy can be found in our download section

Registration: All students are registered at the beginning of every session and Starburst Academy operates a signing out policy which is strictly adhered to. Only students in year 6 (for after-school clubs) and over the age of 12 (for Saturday Academy) may leave unattended if written confirmation is given to the principal in advance.

Involvement in the performing arts can provide an invaluable outlet for self-expression. Students are encouraged to work individually and within small groups which, in turn, promotes collaboration, empathy, perseverance and independence; all characteristics which help promote a happy and well-rounded individual.

Starburst Academy use professional teachers who not only have a wealth of experience in performing but also with teaching. Each term is designed to improve technique and skills as well as working toward demonstrations/shows or workshops.   Because we are an independent Academy, we are able to fully accommodate all our students in our planning and make all our classes bespoke. We know each and every student as an individual and carefully work to enhance their skills in a fun and caring way.

Starburst Academy takes the safety, care and well-being of every student extremely seriously.
